We are seeking a civil engineer with a background in computer science or construction, or an IT technician with expertise in networking and the operation and maintenance of the company’s operational infrastructure systems, to help ensure proper availability and service levels for a multidisciplinary team working on various cutting-edge technology initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will primarily focus on ensuring the optimal and secure operation of the IT infrastructure. This includes installing, configuring, and maintaining servers and network devices; implementing security measures through firewalls and data protection protocols; and applying critical updates and patches. They will also provide technical support to users, manage data backup and recovery procedures, and maintain detailed documentation of systems and operations. Their work is essential to ensuring the availability and efficiency of technological resources, thereby facilitating a continuous and secure workflow within the organization. They must be comfortable working with a wide range of people and professionals.
Specifically, the duties of the position will include:
- Server Management: Install, configure, maintain, and monitor physical and virtual servers. Ensure their availability, integrity, and optimal performance.
- Network Administration: Configure and maintain network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls. Monitor network traffic to ensure optimal connectivity and security.
- System Security: Implement and maintain security policies, including the management of firewalls and intrusion detection systems. Conduct regular security audits and respond to security incidents.
- Updates and patches: Apply software updates and security patches to systems and applications to protect against known vulnerabilities.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support to employees to resolve issues related to the network and operating systems. This may include managing user accounts and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
- Data management and backup: Ensure data integrity and availability by implementing backup and disaster recovery solutions.
- Technical Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation regarding network configuration, operating procedures, and any significant changes to the system.
- Performance monitoring: Use monitoring tools to track system and network performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks or performance issues.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that systems and network infrastructure comply with applicable laws and regulations.
- Collaboration with development teams: Work closely with software development teams to ensure that infrastructure needs are met and optimized for current and future projects.
- Work closely with other departments—such as sales, technology and projects, technical operations, business, and senior management—to prioritize business and information needs.
- Identify, analyze, and interpret trends and/or behavioral patterns in the infrastructure being monitored.
- Create presentations to share analysis findings with internal teams or our clients' external partners.
- Carry out daily tasks as part of an agile, collaborative, and results-oriented environment.
Job Requirements
You must have experience using standard tools and methods related to your duties, such as:
- Operating Systems: In-depth knowledge of operating systems such as Windows Server, Linux/Unix, and macOS. Ability to manage, configure, and troubleshoot these environments, as well as set up hardware systems from scratch using these operating systems.
- Communication networks and protocols: Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, etc.) and experience configuring and managing network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls. In particular, experience working with fiber-optic channels is required.
- Virtualization: Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM-based solutions. Ability to manage and optimize virtual environments. Primarily ESXi.
- IT Security: Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including the management of firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion prevention systems. Experience implementing security policies and responding to security incidents. Experience with solutions such as Nebula or Zyxel is a plus.
- Database Administration: Familiarity with database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc. Ability to perform database maintenance and optimization tasks.
- Backup and Disaster Recovery: Expertise in backup and recovery strategies to protect critical business data. Experience with backup tools such as Veeam, Acronis, or native operating system solutions. In particular, experience with Synology solutions.
- Automation and scripting: Scripting skills to automate repetitive tasks and improve efficiency using Bash, PowerShell, Python, etc.
- Cloud computing: Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform. Ability to migrate services and manage cloud resources.
- System monitoring: Experience with system performance and health monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds, or similar.
- Communication and teamwork skills: Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical teams and work collaboratively to solve complex problems.
- Maintenance of streaming environments using solutions such as Ecamm and Blackmagic.
